Porch Party! Porch Party! Porch Party!

Our dear friend Barb over at Grits & Glamour has decided to welcome in Spring and Summer with a Porch Party! I had planned on having my two porches all ready for the big event. Planned is the operative word here. One thing has held me back from having my porches completed and ready to photograph for the big event. The extremely bad pollen we have had here this year. UGH! It will not cease. I have cleaned off these porches on three different occasions and within 30 minutes they are covered in pollen again. Sadly my porches are still in the winter mode over here at Southern Whimsy. I just can't pull out all the fabrics and goods yet. That of course will not stop me from participating in this fun event. Sit back and feel the breeze. Grab a cool glass of sweet tea with a little mint, southern style and enjoy these lovely inspiration photos.

You just know this doubled porch beauty is right on the water. A real stunner!

What porch is complete without lovely flower boxes. I just love the sharp red geraniums against the crisp white.

This charming seating arrangement was found on RMS over at HGTV. I am sorry to say I do not know who created it but it remains one of my all time favorites. Could it be the whimsical harlequin table top? I love the apple green and black fabrics too!

Black and white never looked so striking. It is sharp and wonderful on this sun porch. I love how they placed the tole tray right up against the windows.

This is a relaxing looking patio.

Who wouldn't love to dine here by candle light.

The definition of a porch.

Oh to sleep here on a warm and balmy summer night. What a fun idea to suspend the mattress.

Sit back and rock awhile. Still working on your tea?

I adore these fabrics and the pink and chartreuse combination. The pillows have little toile scenes on them.

Cool, clean and relaxing right on the water.

Lets dine al fresco!

I love the lattice work. It creates such a charming privacy enclosure.

Layering the different fabrics creates the feeling that this porch has been here through many generations.

Red. Always a favorite.

Adirondack chairs are always in style.

A hammock on a porch makes you think of the islands. Look at the shuttered railings. Very Bahamas!

This warm setting is done by designer Linda Applewhite. The green and yellow with oranges are her signature colors. I love the interest the different styles of wicker chairs creates. This space feels like you would stumble upon it while rounding a corner.

I hope you have enjoyed this brief tour of some lovely porches and outdoor spaces. Join Barb's porch party to see more porch inspiration!

  1. Wow, those are beautiful! My poor porch is covered in pollen! My back deck still has left over plants from last summer. I must get busy!

  2. I loved all of the porch photos and can't wait to get my patio together. I grew up in a house with a huge front porch we all lived on all summer long because we had no air conditioning. I wish my house had one!

Looking forward to seeing yours all decorated for the season.

  5. You were so smart to think outside of the box with the porch party. I have wanted to participate but it's been raining here most for 7 days!! It's hard to be motivated when everything is soggy. I have plants just waiting for my attention.

Thanks for the beautiful pictures and great motivation.

  22. Great inspiration photos!!! Hopefully your pollen problem ends soon so you can get your porch together. That is the problem with real life, nature gets in the way most of the time. I had a beautiful canopy area with a bed in it, but the wind tore the shred out of the canvas roof & everything gets so dirty. So I didn't post anything.
